Located just 39 miles NW of Colorado Springs, Lake George is nestled in the Pikes Peak National Forest. Originally a stage stop en route to Leadville, it still holds as much adventure for travelers today as it did in the days of gold and silver.
A popular attraction is the nearby Florissant Fossil beds, where fossils and petrified redwoods stand frozen in time. Boating, fishing in the areas plentiful reservoirs and rivers, camping and wildlife watching are attractions that keep the summer months busy. Drive the South Park-Tarryall Loop Scenic drive in fall and you’ll have a hard time finding more beautiful country. When the snow flies, it’s skiing, snowboarding, ice fishing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling through some of the country’s most incredible terrain.
